Adhik Mass, also known as Purushottam Maas is an extra month in the Hindu calendar that is inserted to keep the lunar and solar aligned. Purushottam is one of the avatars of Vishnu and hence, this holy month is dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
In 2018, this extra month started on May 16, 2018, and will end on June 13, 2018. The Amavasya falls on the last of Purushottam Maas i.e., June 13, 2018, Wednesday.
Though Amavasya falls every month, the Amavasya in Adhik Mass holds a great importance. Fast and Puja on this day goes long way in improving your life in all respects.
Adhik Maas Amavasya is considered inauspicious and no activities like weddings or moving into a new house are conducted. Now, once the extra month ends, special occasions can be conducted from June 14, 2018.
The devotees who fasted in the Adhik Maas or those who didn’t must worship Lord Purushottam i.e., Lord Krishna on June 13, 2018, the last day of the extra month as it's Wednesday too.
On this day, Donate Sugar / Milk / Ghee / Flour / Fruits / Medicines etc to needy and poor as per your pocket.
Lighting a Deeya on Peepal tree in the evening after sunset is also considered auspicious...Since it's Wednesday, feeding Palak to Cow will also give the desired results.
